Last night was one of the most stressful not so fun nights in my life. We were driving home from the derby and dinner at Formosa when Teydon had a seizure, that was the start of a horrible night. He had acted fine all day, all weekend. It was around 10:38 pm when it happened. We drove through 1400 N and when the light turned green he said Go! We went 2 blocks further and he screamed so I turned around to see what he was screaming at. The look on his face..... He looked horrified, with his arms clenched up by his face. (This image has haunted me ever sense.) So I looked in the direction he was looking and told him "It's ok bud nothing is there your ok." Then I realized he was not coherant to what I was saying, he was just staring, I knew then that something was wrong. I made my mom pull over. Teydon had gone limp and was not responsive, so I told her to take us to the ER. As she was driving he started to choke on his saliva, she told me to get him out of his car seat and lay him face down so that his saliva would run out of his mouth instead of in his throat. That helped him stop choking but he was out of it. In the meantime I called Dan to have him meet us at the hospital, he was still at the fairgrounds for the derby. He didn't answer the first call so I left him a frantic message, I was kinda freaking out a little bit at this time, and I text him 911 so he would know to call me ASAP. Then I called him a second time and he answered. We arrived at the ER about 8 min before Dan. There had been a few accidents so they were really busy, we had to wait in the waiting room for awhile until they could clear a room. Teydon was sleeping and unaware of what was going on, which was good cause he didn't see his mommy so upset. I do not do very well with trauma, my family can testify of that. After about 20 min they had an exam room open for us. There we took turns holding and comforting Teyd, he was in and out of it as the nurses and doctor would come in to check vitals, temp, etc. They decided to do some blood work and a CAT scan to see if we could figure out what had caused his seizure. We called Dan's brother in-law to come help give Teydon a blessing, he had to wait for his wife to get home. When he got there they were in the process of taking us to a different room and the lab tech was there to take Teyds blood. I had to pee really bad, I almost peed my pants so I was lucky enough to not be in the room when they took his blood. :) I did walk in at the end of it and he was not a very happy camper. Once we got him settled down and asleep we gave him a blessing. We had to wait until he was asleep cause he didnt want to be touched or talked to. The spirit was so strong and comforting! After Teydon got his I asked if they would give me one. I know that my Heavenly Father knows and loves me and I am so grateful for him in my life. I could not do what I had to last night without him!I am so so so grateful for the priesthood in my life, and that Dan is a worthy holder of the priesthood. Soon after the blessings they came and got us for his CAT scan. That was not fun at all. Teydon had to hold very very still or it would not work. We tried telling him it was a big camera going to take pics of your head but he was not interested at all in it and was terrified of it. We could not get him to settle down so we had to papoose him, which is wrapping him up tight in a blanket like a baby Indian and Dan and I had to hold him down. I had his legs and hips, Dan had his arms, head and chin. I will be just fine if I never ever have to do that again! We went back to our room and waited for the results. They came and took his temp, it was at 100.3. Which they said was a fever starting but we figure it was just from him being worked up from the CAT scan and being wrapped in a blanket. About 15 min later they had the results. The nurse came in and gave Teyd some Tylenol, and ibuprofen, then the doc came in to tell us the results. They are not sure what caused the seizure, they gave us 3 conclusions. 1. The CAT scan showed he has a binine cyst in his brain, which usually doesn't cause seizures but it's possible it could've. 2. From the "fever" he was getting, which I don't think it is that cause it wasn't a high fever, he hadnt had a fever for 3 days, and usually you have a high fever then a seizure not a seizure then get a fever which caused the seizure. 3. It could be a seizure disorder, my brother has epilepsy. We were given a number to call Primary Childrens Neurologist on Monday and schedule an appt. to have him checked out. So for now we are on hold waiting till then, hoping he doesn't have another episode.
I do not know how parents do it when they have sick kids all the time. I hope that I am blessed with the strength that I need to pull through this trial in our life at the moment. We found out last night just how much Teydon means to us and how much it hurts to watch your children suffer from a sickness. It was so hard to see my little guy go through what he did last night. I am so grateful for him in my life and love him more than he will ever know!!!! I love being his mother and hope that we can have more better days than worse. I hope we can figure out what is going on with him, soon! Please add him to your prayers!!! Thank you everyone who loves and supports us in all that we do, we love you all.
